Prof. Dr. Kamil Yalçın Polat is one of Turkey's leading specialists in general surgery. He is especially known for his work in organ transplantation and oncological surgery. He completed his medical education at Atatürk University Faculty of Medicine between 1980-1986 and received his specialty training in General Surgery at the same university between 1987-1991. He worked as a faculty member at Atatürk University Faculty of Medicine between 1991-2010 and was the director of the Organ Transplantation Training, Research and Application Center between 2003-2010. Since 2010, he has been working as the Head of Organ Transplantation Department at Memorial Ataşehir Hospital.
Prof. Dr. Polat has been awarded with achievements such as TUBITAK scholarship, second prize in the Faculty of Medicine and first place in the General Surgery Specialization Examination. His scientific publications include 28 articles in SCI Expanded journals and more than 100 national articles. He has attended many advanced trainings and courses for his professional development, completed a master's degree in Liver, Biliary Tract, Pancreatic Surgery and Multiple Organ Transplantation at New York University Mount Sinai Hospital, was a visiting fellow in Oncologic Surgery at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and received Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery Training in Germany.
Prof. Dr. Polat, who also stands out as an educator, has contributed to the training of many students and specialists.
