Highlights
Prof. Dr. Mehmet DEMİRHAN graduated as a specialist doctor from the Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology at Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine in 1992. He completed his specialization training at the Heidelberg University Faculty of Medicine in Germany with a DAAD scholarship. While continuing his academic career as a specialist doctor at Istanbul University until 1996, he also worked as a researcher at the University of Pittsburgh between 1994 and 1995. In 1996, he continued his academic career at Istanbul University with the title of associate professor. With over 70 articles published in international peer-reviewed journals and academic research, he obtained the title of professor in 2002. In the same year, he started his medical career at the American Hospital Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology, where he continues to see patients. In 2011, he left Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine and continued his academic work at Koç University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology. Prof. Dr. Mehmet DEMİRHAN served as the Vice Dean of Koç University Faculty of Medicine from 2014 to 2017, and since 2018, he has also been serving as the President of the European Society for Shoulder and Elbow Surgery (Société Européenne pour la Chirurgie de l'Epaule et du Coude, SECEC).
