Prof. Dr. Nüket Sandallı began her dental education at the Istanbul University Faculty of Dentistry and successfully completed it in 1971 with the degree of "DDS." She continued her doctoral studies in the Department of Dental Diseases and Conservative Dental Treatment at the same faculty, earning the title of "Dr. Med. Dent" in 1975.
Taking a significant step in her academic career, she received the title of "Associate Professor" in the Department of Pedodontics at the Istanbul University Faculty of Dentistry in 1981. Later in 1988, she achieved the title of "Professor" at the same faculty.
In 1998, Prof. Dr. Nüket Sandallı founded the Department of Pediatric Dentistry at Yeditepe University Faculty of Dentistry. In this role, she served as the Head of the Department of Pediatric Dentistry at Yeditepe University Faculty of Dentistry for 19 years and concurrently held positions on the Faculty Senate and Faculty Board of Directors during this period.
As an academic achievement, her study on "Dental caries and oral health care of high-income families' children in Turkey" in 2001 was awarded the "CED Travel Grant" by the International Association for Dental Research. Additionally, her work on "Examination of Traumatic Injuries in Turkey" earned her the "Incentive Award" from the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey in 2005.
In 2006, her research on the effects of Probiotic Bacterium Lactobacillus Reuteri ATCC 557302 on mutans Streptococci and Lactobacilli levels in saliva, using pipettes and tablets, won the "Best Article" award from Acta Odontologia Scandinavica. She repeated this success in 2008 with her study on the effect of ice cream containing Bifidobacterium Lactis Bb-12 on mutans Streptococci and Lactobacilli, receiving the "EAPD Scientific Research Award for Oral Health and Nutrition."
In 2015, she established the Department of Pediatric Dentistry at the Istanbul Kemerburgaz University Faculty of Dentistry, where she shared her experience and knowledge with the new generation of dentists. She also served as a member of the Faculty Board of Directors for two years at the same university, providing an opportunity to pass on her clinical experiences to students.
Prof. Dr. Nüket Sandallı recently retired from her academic work and continues to practice dentistry at her own clinic, Istanbul Dental Center (IDC).
