Highlights
Prof. Dr. Peker Sandallı graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of Dentistry in 1960 and began his academic career. After completing his doctorate in Dental Diseases and Treatments in 1964, he conducted his associate professorship studies in the field of Periodontology at the University of London, becoming an expert in the field. Following academic work and research in dental physiology at the University of Geneva in 1972, he earned the title of Professor in Oral Implantology in 1974.
From 1987 to 1991, he served as the Dean of Istanbul University Faculty of Dentistry, where he introduced the departments of Periodontology and Oral Implantology.
Throughout his university career, he published numerous academic articles. In 1975, he performed the first gum grafting surgery in the history of dentistry and contributed significantly to the literature by publishing his technique for vestibular deepening. He founded and presided over the Turkish Society of Periodontology and the Turkish Society of Oral Implantology. In 1983, he became the president of the Turkish Dental Association.
In 1997, he retired voluntarily as a professor from Istanbul University and served as the president of the ICOI Implantology Society from 1999 to 2004. He continued his academic career by establishing the Department of Oral Implantology at Yeditepe University Faculty of Dentistry during his retirement.
In 2005, he left Yeditepe University and established Istanbul Dental Center Dental Polyclinic in Istanbul Osmanbey, where he currently serves as the director. In the same year, he was invited to teach implantology as a faculty member at New York University College of Dentistry, where he continues to teach.
