Highlights
Prof. Dr. Uğur Selek is an internationally recognized expert and academician in the field of radiation oncology. He completed his medical education at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine between 1991-1997 and then received his Radiation Oncology Specialization Training at the same university between 1997-2001.
Between 2001-2003, he worked as a clinical researcher in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. During this period, he participated in advanced projects such as Intensity Modulated and 3-Dimensional Conformal Radiotherapy Program (2001-2002) and Intensity Modulated and Stereotactic Radiotherapy Program (2002-2003). As a result of his successful studies, he received the “First Annual M.D. Anderson Radiation Oncology Fellow Research Award” in 2003.
Since 2009, Prof. Dr. Selek has been working as the Head of the Department at the American Hospital Radiation Oncology Center and continues his academic studies as a faculty member in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.
Prof. Dr. Uğur Selek is a member of many important professional and scientific organizations. These include ASTRO (American Society for Radiation Oncology), EORTC (European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer), Turkish Society of Radiation Oncology, Turkish Lung Cancer Society and MD Anderson Cancer Center Alumni and Faculty Association. Thanks to these memberships, he contributes to research on cancer treatment in national and international platforms.
