Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck)

The abdominal area is one of the most affected regions that can become deformed due to pregnancy, childbirth, or significant weight loss. Abdominoplasty, commonly known as a tummy tuck, is a frequently chosen method by plastic surgeons, especially for patients who experience sagging, stretch marks, and abdominal bulging due to the stretching and expansion of the skin during pregnancy or the separation of abdominal muscles after childbirth.

Abdominoplasty is an aesthetic surgical procedure that involves the removal of excess fat tissue and skin from the middle and lower abdominal area. It is a popular choice because it can achieve ideal results for patients with post-pregnancy sagging, stretch marks, or abdominal muscle separation.

In this operation, the tightness and tension of the abdominal wall muscles are restored, excess skin and fat are removed, and a flat abdominal appearance is created for the patient. Additionally, a new and more aesthetically pleasing navel is sculpted as part of the procedure.

Types of Abdominoplasty:

  • Full Abdominoplasty:

In a full abdominoplasty, an incision is made at the level of the pubic bone, extending from hip to hip within the confines of underwear. The abdominal skin is lifted up to the ribcage, excess fat is removed, and the lax abdominal muscles are tightened by suturing them together. After the procedure, the position of the navel is readjusted. Full abdominoplasty also addresses weaknesses or hernias in the abdominal muscles if present.

  • Mini Abdominoplasty:

Mini abdominoplasty is suitable for patients who have minimal excess skin and fat accumulation, mainly below the navel without significant upper abdominal sagging. In this procedure, a small incision is made in the lower abdomen and the lower abdominal area is tightened using a mini tummy tuck.

  • Circumferential (Belt) Abdominoplasty:

In circumferential abdominoplasty, excess skin not only from the abdominal front wall but also from the waist and back areas is removed. The incision often extends around the body, starting from the bikini line and encircling it.
