What Is Mesotherapy?

Mesotherapy is an effective treatment method performed for many different aesthetic applications today. Apart from aesthetic purposes such as skin rejuvenation, anti-aging, spot reduction, cellulite, skin cracks, spots, scars and hair treatment, it is also effective in the treatment of chronic and acute pains, rheumatological disorders, sports injuries and various skin diseases.

The mesotherapy is the technique of administration of vitamins, minerals, amino acids, enzymes alone or generally in a mixture to the middle layer of the skin by microinjection.

The active ingredients are applied directly to the problematic area through the skin, and the skin's self-repair process begins, which is the basic principle of the mesotherapy. The administered active ingredients provide the missing substances in the skin and support their self-repair process. In this process, blood circulation improves and formation of new collagen and elastic fibers begins. Improvement is observed on the skin surface, wrinkles and pores reduce, and the skin is rejuvenated and revitalized in the short term. The mesotherapy is one of the most efficient methods among non-surgical aesthetic applications.

  • Cleaning: The application site is cleaned and antisepticised before the procedure. This step is quite important to decrease the risk of infection and performed the application in sterile fashion.
  • Injection: Mesotherapy is conducted using fine-tipped injectors or special mesotherapy guns. A special mixture consisting of the previously determined active ingredients is injected in the application site. This mixture is customized depending on the type of skin problem and treatment goals.
  • Injection Techniques: Different injection techniques can be used for mesotherapy. These techniques include various methods such as microinjection, point-by-point injection, linear injection and raster injection. The specialist decides on the most appropriate injection technique depending on the needs of the patient and the characteristics of the application site.
  • Duration of Procedure: The mesotherapy procedure usually takes 15 to 30 minutes. However, the duration may vary depending on the application site and the treatment goals.
  • Recovery and Outcomes: There is usually no need for a recovery period following the mesotherapy procedure. Patients can return to their daily activities immediately. However, mild redness, swelling or tenderness may develop in the application site, which usually disappear in a short period of time.
  • Sessions: The mesotherapy is usually applied in a series of sessions. The number of sessions varies depending on the condition of the application site, the treatment goals and the patient's response. The number and duration of sessions are planned by the specialist together with the patient.
