Vaginoplasty

A surgical procedure referred to as 'vaginoplasty' aims to tighten your vaginal muscles, perineum, and surrounding tissues to provide more tightness, strength, and control to the vaginal area. This operation is intended to enhance sensitivity and sexual experience. Normally, vaginal muscles naturally stretch and contract during childbirth, but problems can arise after childbirth when these muscles remain weak and lax; for example, issues such as urinary incontinence and sexual dysfunction may occur.

What is Vaginoplasty?

Vaginoplasty, a surgical procedure referred to as such, aims to tighten the vaginal muscles, perineum, and surrounding tissues to enhance tightness, strength, and control in the vaginal area. This procedure is aimed at increasing sensitivity and improving sexual experiences. Normally, during childbirth, vaginal muscles naturally stretch and contract, but problems can arise when these muscles become weak and loose after childbirth; for example, issues like urinary incontinence and sexual dysfunction can occur. Vaginoplasty surgery can be performed as a standalone procedure or as part of a total vaginal rejuvenation treatment.

Vaginoplasty is a procedure that women often consider due to concerns such as the loss of vaginal muscle strength, especially as they age or after childbirth. This condition can lead to discomfort, reduced sensitivity, urinary incontinence, lack of satisfaction during sexual intercourse, and even bowel movement problems. Therefore, vaginoplasty is a potential solution that can be considered to address such issues.

How Is Vaginoplasty Procedure Performed?

Typically, vaginoplasty surgery is performed under general anesthesia, although in some cases, local anesthesia and sedation may be used. Your surgeon will put you to sleep before the surgery begins, and the operation commences. Vaginoplasty surgery typically takes 1 - 2 hours and does not require hospitalization. This means you can be sent home a few hours after the surgery is completed.

Vaginoplasty surgery is specifically designed to tighten the vagina. During the operation, the stretched muscles in the back of the vagina are brought together, shortened with dissolvable sutures, and excess vaginal lining is removed. Additionally, the surrounding soft tissues are tightened. As a result of this procedure, the vaginal canal becomes smaller, and there is increased friction during sexual intercourse, often achieving a similar state to the pre-childbirth vaginal shape.

When the muscles and ligaments in the vagina are tightened, it also provides support to other internal organs such as the bladder, intestines, and uterus. Vaginoplasty is, therefore, considered a beneficial procedure not only from an aesthetic standpoint but also for the functionality of internal organs.
