Nasal Diseases

Nasal diseases refer to health issues resulting from the disruption of various structures, tissues, or functions in the nasal region. These diseases are diagnosed and treated by Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) specialists.

Rhinitis:

Rhinitis is a condition resulting from inflammation of the inner surface of the nose.

Symptoms:

Characterized by symptoms such as nasal congestion, runny nose, sneezing, itching, and postnasal drip.

Causes:

Various factors like viral infections, bacterial infections, allergies, and exposure to irritants can trigger rhinitis.

Treatment:

Treatment is typically symptom-focused and may include antihistamines, decongestants, nasal sprays, and allergy medications.

Sinusitis:

A condition arising from the inflammation of sinus cavities.

Symptoms:

Symptoms may include headache, nasal congestion, facial pain, fatigue, cough, and postnasal drip.

Causes:

Infections, allergies, or anatomical abnormalities can be among the causes of sinusitis.

Treatment:

Treatment may aim to alleviate symptoms and can involve antibiotics, decongestants, nasal sprays, fluid intake, and rest.

Nasal Polyps:

Soft, hanging masses that often develop on the inner surface of the nose, usually associated with allergies or chronic sinusitis.

Symptoms:

Symptoms may include nasal congestion, facial pain, loss of smell, and postnasal drip.

Causes:

Chronic inflammation, allergic reactions, and genetic factors can trigger polyp formation.

Treatment:

Medication, corticosteroid nasal sprays, allergy medications, and surgical intervention may be considered based on the size of the polyps and symptoms.

Nasal Tumors:

Bleeding resulting from damage to blood vessels inside the nose.

Causes:

Causes may include dryness, trauma, nasal tumors, or the rupture of vessels on the inner surface of the nose.

Treatment:

Typically treated with simple compression, use of moisturizers, and, when necessary, interventions such as electrocautery or nasal packing.

Nasal Deviation:

Deformation of the nasal shape and the emergence of respiratory problems due to the deviation of cartilage or bone tissue inside the nose.

Symptoms:

Symptoms may include nasal congestion, difficulty breathing, headaches, and nosebleeds.

Treatment:

Surgical intervention called septoplasty, aimed at correcting the nasal septum, is often preferred.

Broken Nose Bones:

Cases where the bones in the nasal region break due to trauma.

Symptoms:

Symptoms may include pain, swelling, nosebleeds, and deformities in shape.

Treatment:

Treatment options may include resetting the broken bones (reduction), nasal splints, and, if necessary, surgical intervention.

Allergic Nasal Diseases:
